From a Board Member's Point of View

John Earle, GCWD Board Member

John Earle has served as a member of the Golden Crescent Workforce Development Board since May 2004 and is currently serving as Co-Chairman of the Board. Mr. Earle,  Human Resource Manager at Seadrift Coke L.P., represents the Private Sector businesses in Calhoun County.

1. What rewards have you received, both professionally and personally, while serving on the Board?

Personally – The association with other professionals in many walks of life from other counties in the service area who also serve as Board members.
Professionally – A greatly increased understanding of the various programs administered by, and the services available through, the Workforce Solutions staff.

2. What are your opinions and/or feelings about serving as a Golden Crescent Workforce Development Board member?

Board membership provides a tremendous opportunity to help make a difference in a critical aspect of the local economy.

3. What are your opinions and/or feelings about the services provided by Workforce Solutions?

I am particularly impressed by the dedication and professionalism of the Workforce Solutions staff within our service area. These staffers are making a difference on a daily basis. It’s a privilege to be associated with them.

It would be enough if all that Workforce Solutions did was to administer the WIA (Workforce Investment Act). However, the services and programs go much further and have a tremendous positive impact on families, young people in school, and other segments of the population beyond helping people find jobs.
